The spring, summer, and fall seasons provide a wonderful opportunity for you and your dog to enjoy some quality outside time doing the many different activities that you love to do. Playing fetch, swimming, running, and just enjoying the warm temperatures and refreshing smells of the seasons are just a few things that you can look forward to during these times. One thing that many do not look forward to however, is the ever increasing infestation of the dreaded little insects that we commonly know as ticks.

These nasty little creatures make their way their way onto the scene every year and reek havoc on your dogs and even you as the search for a unsuspecting victim to feast on. The question often arises about how you can protect your dog from ticks, and the answer is that there are a number of solutions that can be used to prevent them from making their way onto your dog, and there are solutions that will even kill them if they do happen to successfully make it onto your dog.

The simplest and cheapest way that you can keep ticks off of your dog is by simply avoiding them all together, meaning staying away from anywhere that ticks may be living including wooded areas, grassy ditches, or any other type of environment that provides a good living environment for the tick. If you can avoid these areas all together, then you can most certainly avoid the problem all together.

Tick collars can be effective in preventing tick infestation on your dog, but are typically less effective if your dog has a thick coat or if your dog is relatively large in size. The reason they are less effective is because they are limited in terms of how much surface area they can treat when it comes to your dog’s coat.

A more effective defense against ticks is Frontline, which is a topical solution that you apply to your dogs coat in order to kill ticks once they bite into your dog’s skin. This product is applied along the dog’s back starting from just above the shoulder blades down to the hind end. When the solution is applied, it will effectively spread over the surface of your dog’s back and more to provide a large coverage area which increases the likelihood that they will come in contact with it. Frontline is available in different dog size solutions so it is important that you pick the right size for your dog. They are usually labeled with Small to Large dog size classifications.

If you’re looking to protect your dog from ticks this season, there are a number of methods that you can try, but none perhaps more effective then Frontline. Make sure your dog is protected from ticks so they can enjoy each and every day of the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
